Carrie Fleming was the ninth child of Greene and Lucinda McDaniel Fleming. Elihue Gaylord was the son of Ebon Gaylord and the only son of Carrie Fleming. Uncle Elihue Gaylord was a graduate of Sullivan High School in Morrilton, Arkansas and from AM&N College (UAPB). He served in the U.S. Army. Rev. Gaylord was actively involved in numerous civic and community affairs. He was about helping his fellowman. He was married to Aurelia Johnson Gaylord who was a retired public school teacher and also a college instructor. His work experience includes the Agriculture Extension Service from 1950-1956; taught school for 21/2 years at Walker High School in Magnolia. Worked for the U.S. Army as a lab technician, 1965-1980. He was elected state President of the NAACP in 1984 and served 13 years.
